The Recycled Skateboard Slim Wallet measures only 4 millimeters thin (that's about the thickness of 4 credit cards) and will securely hold 1-10 cards, plus cash. You could fit more cards if you wanted to, but we think that sort of defeats the purpose of a slim wallet. The cards are held in place by a one inch wide band made from bicycle inner-tubes. We use bicycle inner-tubes because they have the perfect amount of stretch and grip to keep your wallet's contents secure.
According to the Skatepark Association of America, there were 13 millions skateboarders in the US in 2013. An average skateboarder breaks a board about every two months, sometimes more. If you multiply that figure by all the skateboarders in the universe, the number is staggering. What happens to these boards when they have reached the end of their useful life, you ask? They end up in a landfill.
Our recycled wallets are constructed from broken skateboard decks. We start by removing the old grip tape from each deck. The decks are then cut into thin strips, glued, then pressed together. Once dry, the wood is cut into the final shape, sanded by hand using the old grip tape, then sealed with a clear enamel.
